Research

MHC class I molecules play an important role in the onset of host cellular immune responses against intracellular pathogens. The genes of the MHC genomic region are among the most polymorphic in the human genome, giving rise to a plethora of MHC class I molecules with distinct peptide binding specificities.

We are interested in elucidating the impact of this binding specificity on host-pathogen interaction and infectious disease outcome. Further, my research focusses on comparing the peptide-binding repertoires of human MHC class I molecules with those of non-human primates in order to unravel what might have shaped the MHC peptide binding repertoires in these closely related species.
